AMAZING MAISEY is beautiful, healthy and ready to go!  She is lovely and loving and a shadow to her foster mom. She adores her foster brother sibling and sleeps right on top of him!  He is enamored of her too. Who wouldn't be?  She is a small treasure.

We are looking for JUST the RIGHT home for Maisey.  What does that mean?

Here are some of the basics she needs and we are unwavering in our pursuit of her happiness.

1.  Someone who is home most of the time - not gone for 4 or more hours day after day, every single day.  She really would be forlorn without someone home with her. She is willing to ride shotgun on your errands - so take her with you to the hardware store - she knows all about pvc pipe and duct tape.
2. Another small friendly happy dog to romp and play with would be super.
3. A fenced yard - even a very small portion of the yard would keep her safe when you are outside for a cookout this summer.
4. Someone who has dog experience - Yorkie experience would be wonderful but we need someone who has a good vet history that we can check. It's important that we know that YOU know how to care for a Yorkie, their teeth and their health.
5. Someone who is ACTIVE!  Couch potatoes, this isn't the dog for you. She is a puppy! She needs to get out, go for a walk at least twice a day in good weather. NOT a walk around your fenced yard - not throwing a toy in the family room - a real, hook-up-the-leash-and-lets-go-meet-the-neighbors walk.

No small children!  She is tiny and shouldn't be around small children OR very large dogs. That's just common sense.

If the description above sounds like you - then we need your application. We have many already but most are not suitable for a very young, very small puppy. She deserves happiness after her near death experience.  All of her puppies died.  It's up to us to make the rest of her life a happy, loving, wonderful experience.  Because she IS - Amazing!

Maisey is doing well and acts likes always been part of our gang! She's scheduled to go back to the Vet this Friday for her follow-up booster.

10/19/14
Maisey had her check up with the veterinary surgical center and she still has symptoms of infection due to her traumatic surgery.  She was continued on antibiotics and she will not be able to get all her vaccinations for a few weeks.  They don't want to overload her body in this weakened state.  She is very thin and is being given small meals several times a day.  Maisey continues to be a happy girl who feels safe and secure in her foster Mom & Dad's home.

10/16/14
Maisey is still recovering, however, her health continues to improve each day. She will be returning to the Vet this weekend for a follow-up visit as well as all of her vaccines, tests, etc. Unfortunately, she had not received any of this due to neglect before her surgery so her medical costs continue to rise. Maisey and her Foster Mom would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and generous donations...with this, Maisey is on her way to being a happy and healthy puppy!

10/8/2014
What a tough time this little girl has had for one so young! At only a year old and less than 5lbs, she's been through so much already. Abandoned by her 1st owners and impregnated by another dog 3 times her size, she almost died from this pregnancy. After all, a dog this young and this tiny has NO business being pregnant...unfortunately, none of her puppies survived, however, Maisey did which makes her AMAZING MAISEY!

It was through sure luck and fortune that Maisey came to us in the nick of time. Her 2nd owners had no knowledge or resources to care for her and when they realized she was pregnant, they had no clue what to do when Maisey went into labor. So what did they do? They took her to PetSmart!?!? It was there that Maisey was then introduced to her 3rd owners who aided in her delivery of her breached puppy right there in the PetSmart breakroom! Unfortunately, her 3rd owners could not afford to give Maisey the medical attention she so desperately needed help her deliver her remaining puppies so they came to SAY for help.

As incredible as this story is, it does not compare to how truly resilient and strong this little gal is...after more than 24 hours in labor, she was finally taken in for emergency surgery to remove the two remaining deceased puppies. Maisey is now in recovery and is closely being monitored to ensure she is does not have an infection and that all her other vitals are stable. No dog should ever go through the pain and trauma that she has yet, she through it all, she has been so sweet, loving, and affectionate...despite the terrible time she's had, she still just wants to please anyone she meets. Maisey's medical costs are very high due to the critical nature of the surgery and she will have to remain at the Vet Clinic until she is stabilized...each day she is there is so important to her recovery but her medical expenses are racking up so we need your help!

She is recuperating with Trinh and her gang in VA.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
