He is 2 years old and weighs 5 lbs.

His adoption fee is $950.00.

We reached Chapter 6 in the adventures of Trevor and he has now gone 2 months in foster care. His health has not shown any signs of decline, and all indications are that whatever issues he had when coming into rescue have now been neutralized by a better diet, exercise routine and environmental surroundings. I am still suggesting that he undergo testing in a year to potential applicants but that is just for precaution, not for any visible symptoms. 

I am not sure what is limiting the number of applications for him, but he is a joy to have around……………at least most of the time. Yes, he is a non-stop five-pound tornado, but he does not cause any damage, bite, destroy toys or bark continuously. He is just your normal active Yorkie that wants to play all the time, chase bunnies and greet every dog that walks down the street. 

The weather over the past 2 weeks has limited walks and outdoor activities and both Trevor and Quinn did not appreciate the lack of exercise or boredom. They also didn’t like the heat outside and their behaviors in the house became more and more annoying. We finally solved their boredom issues with walks in another park that has a stream flowing through it. Not to be outdone by his older foster brother, Trevor did not hesitate learning how to swim and has shown no fear at going into the water to cool down. It was so entertaining watching 2 dogs outside that showed no interest in running or playing, then come to life as soon as they got into the water. When they got out of the water, they ran around like they were 6 months old and then as soon as they got warm again, back in the stream to cool down. 

In other news, Trevor celebrated July 4^th in the company of family and friends and their dogs and made sure every crumb that was dropped did not attract ants or other insects. He also showed his dominance by making sure that he received the proper lap time on whatever lap he wanted regardless of whether it was already in use or not. The day came to a close with loud booms echoing through the neighborhood and the flashes of fireworks as we sat outside, dogs on our laps, admiring the celebration of our country’s anniversary. Trevor follows whatever Quinn and Levi do and if they are not afraid, then he would be the big boy and make sure he was not afraid. 

This Friday, Trevor has a home visit with what could be a wonderful applicant. If all goes well, he may be on his way to his Forever Home in a week or two. And if this turns out not to be the right match, he is more than welcome to stay here until the perfect family arrives with open arms and open hearts.

Trevor is staying with Mark in Northampton, PA.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you. 

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
