Her adoption fee is $350.00.

Ahhh... the prettiest month of the year - October.  Falling leaves, windswept lawns rolling the warm colors of russet and gold.  It is the month that smells of hayrides and pumpkins.  Kids are planning their costumes for the 31st. We love October the month - and we love Bell a' October,  a new little Yorkie girl who came to us during the ides of October.  She was in trouble - in pain, unhappy, but willing to try to live as best she could with the hand she was dealt.

Not so with us!  We knew she needed help and we wouldn't rest until she was rushed to the surgeon.  His call came - astonished!  He had just removed the largest bladder stone the practice had ever seen in a small dog!

But it's over and she is healed!  She is so happy - she dances! She prances! She races and barks!  Bella hasn't felt this good in oh so long - life feels good now and she is ready to be loved.

Now two weeks post surgery, she is enjoying every part of being a dog! Bella loves to eat (and probably needs to be about 6lbs instead of 4lbs so she is getting extra food and treats, which she does not seem to mind in the least bit!).  She loves playing with her favorite red squeaky toy, but her favorite activity is laying down next to her foster parents and getting love, attention, and affection.

Bella is fully house trained (which is amazing after severe bladder issues she had, which notably were caused by an infection, and should not be a reoccurring issue!).  She gets along well with her foster dog brother and dog sister, and wants to be friends with her foster cat sister (who wants nothing at all to do with her).

Bella needs a home that is willing to give her lots of love and attention!  She will need someone that is home a majority of the day (retired or working from home), and with only one or two dogs at the most, that will not have jealously issues, since she needs to have the attention of her human at all times.  She is content just laying by your side (or laying on the bath mat while you take a shower) - but she just wants to be near you!

If you are looking for an adult dog with the heart of a puppy she just may be the dog for you!

We have so much more to tell you about Bell a' October - continue to watch her webpage - there is so much to add.  If you are looking for a little girl - who will fill in as she eats her way through her recovery - then now is the time to put in your application.  Hurry before someone beats you to this gem, this lovely little lady with the light of autumn in her eyes.

She is vacationing with LeeAnn and her gang in Vineland, NJ.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
