Sparky
We adopted and Rescued “Sparky” last year during the Yorkie Day Picnic from Loretta & Bob Gilfert, his foster parents. “Mr. Sparks” as Bob & we nick-named him went to the Rainbow Bridge just short of his 11th birthday on April 29th, 2006. We miss him tremendously because he had really come out of his shell with us at our home. He went from not speaking or moving at all when we first brought him home, to being the life of the household! He learned how to bark very loudly, he made little baby lion noises & growls, to little happy squeals of excitement. We had never heard these unique sounds ever come from a dog before, especially not one so small! Sparky was very skinny when we got him and ended up needing to wear a Belly Band pretty regularly, but he learned how to beg for treats, got lots of them, gained 2 POUNDS!!!! and was given many very fashionable Belly Bands (or as we called them Potty Pants). He also learned how to find his way around the house, even with his eyesight being limited (due to hardening of the lenses) as we found out and in his travels learned how to steal his sisters’ hidden doggie bones! Mr. Sparks had a lot of urinary trouble while we had him. Initially he could not stop going and was constantly getting baths, so we ended up getting him a very stylish hair-cut as you will see in his picture(s). In the end he had the opposite problem of not being able to go potty at all. We had taken him to several specialists and Veterinary Hospitals and had X-rays, Radiographs, several Blood Tests, Urine Sample tests, etc. but in the end we found out that he had a cyst near the tube of his bladder that had grown to a size where it was completely covering the tube through which he would normally be able to urinate from. His was in a lot of pain towards the end, but we had given him some pain medicine and tried everything we could to save him. It took a lot of work in caring for this little guy, but it was more than worth it for him to have had such a happy & fun season in his life. I think he was truly happy when he passed because he knew that he had been spoiled and treated like the little King of the Castle that he was. They say that the pain that you feel when someone you love leaves you is equal to the joy they brought you while they were there….. Sparky was a HUGE JOY in our life and he is VERY SORELY missed! We love you Sparks. Mr. Sparks “Sparky” Seifert May 13, 1995 — April 29th, 2006
