Tidbit Two is available for adoption.

He is 5 years old and weighs 7 lbs.

His adoption fee is $450.00.

Tidbit Two has now received all of his necessary vetting, and he is so ready to find his perfect, forever home.  His teeth are polished and sparkling clean, and his microchip has been inserted and registered.  His medication for Lyme is ending, and there are no more medicines he needs to take, except his monthly heartworm and flea/tick.  He is a good eater, and he is weighing in at a very pleasing 8 pounds.   He is looking quite fine when compared to his physical state on arrival. He so needed a good bath and grooming, and his poor skin, ravaged by a flea infestation, was a raw mess. There are no tell-tale signs of his rough, previous existence now.

Tidbit Two is a Yorkie who loves to play, and he will attempt to have you interact with him in play. To achieve that end, he will use a soft bark/growl combination to tease you into joining him. He wants so much to talk to you; yet, when you are ready to sit and relax, he will rest right alongside you. There are also times when he engages in quiet play on his own.

He remains an equal opportunity toy grabber…from squeaky toys to balls to chew sticks, he continues to grab the closest. It does not matter one bit to him if the squeaker no longer squeaks, if the ball is completely bare of fuzz, or if the bully stick has been previously chewed by my own Yorkie, he loves them no matter what state they are in. He sleeps in our bed, and he loves nothing more than to carry a wide assortment of toys onto said bed in case they are needed at any time through the night or early morning hours.  Therefore, our bed often resembles a toy graveyard. Yet, rest assured that this little guy is a sound sleeper rather than a player through the night. If you are considering Tidbit, be forewarned that he needs to be touching you to feel most secure through the night. Placing him in a crate for the night would not be in his best interest at this time; he has had no crate training.

I was told, when I accepted him into my home, that he was paper trained.  Now that he knows my home more, he is using the paper in emergency situations.  But, he loves his walks, and if I walk him frequently throughout the day, he is good about doing his business outside. He will walk perfectly on a leash, and he will typically greet people and dogs. Our neighbors have come to enjoy seeing Tidbit when they are walking their dogs. His new owner will have to continue working with him on pottying outside, but he is highly intelligent and quite trainable.

A continuing cause of some distress for him is being left alone.  This anxiety presents as barking.  He is getting more comfortable in my open air pen, where he eventually settles in his bed along with my Yorkie, Joseph, in his separate bed. New owners must remember that Tidbit Two’s owner passed away, and the person who was charged with his care left him alone for 8 to 9 hours every day; therefore his anxiety about being left is understandable. He continues to love car rides, but needs to be restrained in his own car seat for his safety as he will want to go with anyone who leaves the car. And, he can be a talented escape artist!

So, the absolute home of perfection for him continues to be one where someone is home much of the time, as this guy is a people pup.  Ideally, he would be walked often throughout the day for his potty training and for his continued socialization.  If you are looking for a lifetime companion with personality, intelligence, good looks, and lots of love to give, this is the dog for you.  He will be available later in September. Our task is to find him the best forever home possible.

Tidbit Two is currently staying with Donna and Wayne and their Yorkie, Joseph, in Lancaster, PA.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
