About Baby Blue

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
Blue has been adopted by Joy Weatherburn of Norristown, PA on 2/27/05.Hi! My name is Baby Blue and aren't I the cutest thing you ever laid eyes on? I am only 3 years old.My mom had to give me away because I had accidents on the carpet. So a nice lady from the rescue came and took me home with her. She said lots of people will want me. I hope so. I need a house with a fenced in yard, because I like to run and chase squirrels. I don't like cats but I like other dogs. I am used to sleeping in bed with my mom and dad and I'd like to continue doing that. I'm healthy and just 6.5 lbs. and a really cute little guy. So give my foster mom, Vicki, a call at 610-367-2937.Blue's adoption fee is $400.Visit our website at www.saveayorkierescue.orgKEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND: 1. Yorkies do not get along well with small children. 2. Yorkies are nearly impossible to housebreak. 3. You will NOT find a puppy in Yorkie Rescue and we consider a dog up to 3 years old to be a puppy. 4. It is rare for us to get a FEMALE into rescue. 5. There is no such thing as a tea cup Yorkie so don't be misled by such a description. 6. Senior Citizens get preferred treatment. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you adopt. Steps to adopt a Yorkie from Save A Yorkie Rescue:1. Go to: www.SaveAYorkieRescue.org 2. Click on the line that says "Click here for an application" or Jean will mail you an application if you call 610-678-0918. 3. We will call you to let you know we receive your application and to chat about the dog you are interested in adopting. 4. A Home Visit MUST be done. This takes the longest but is REQUIRED. So the sooner you submit your application, and get your home visit done, the sooner you can adopt a Yorkie.Adoption donations range from $150-$450 depending on the health, age and size of the dog. We prefer homes in the southeastern PA area. Save A Yorkie Rescue is a non-profit organization operating on donations only. KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
