Emmie Rose is available for adoption.

Her adoption fee is $800.00.

Update:
Another week with little Emmie. She had her spay and microchip on Wednesday. You would think that means my life would be easy for a few days but you would be wrong!! Nothing stops little Miss Emmie Rose. I had to be on my toes from the minute we got home. Emmie would see the stairs and want to climb. Sofa? Why that is there so Emmie could jump (or for me to move faster to catch her before she had the chance!) Me? Emmie wanted her favorite perch so for 2 days I assisted her on the climb to my shoulders. Her absolute favorite place to nap...on top of a pillow wrapped around my neck.

There are some improvements. Last night she actually took a nap on the sofa instead of my neck. This morning she let me love on Dunkin without growling but she did try to stick her nose in there. Perhaps she is learning to share? Or perhaps she still isn't totally with it after the surgery? Ha! only time will tell.

Biggest news of all...I have found a kibble she will eat!! She will eat Dunkin's food. Problem - Dunkin is my round little dog so he is on a diet food!! I guess Emmie wants to keep her girlish figure. I will keep trying to find a balanced food for her age but in the mean time I am just thrilled Emmie is a actually eating something.

What a delight little Emmie is. I would write more but she has decided it is time to play. I now have 2 balls and a chicken sitting at my feet so I guess I will do my job and throw them.

Emmie absolutely loves to be on your lap or even held up against your chest but watch out. Emmie loves, loves, loves to give kisses.  Unless it is play time! Emmie loves to play fetch and when she brings her toy back to you it is politely dropped at your feet. Of course she is staring at you wanting you to pick it up and throw it again. When you tell her she is a good little girl her little nub of a tail moves at a mile a minute.  Emmie had no idea what stairs were but now she is going up and down them like a pro.

Emmie needs to be an only dog, she's just happiest with her human all to herself.   She is a smart little girl.  I'm sure there are traits we may not like but I haven't had the opportunity to document them yet. I'm too busy getting my kisses and cuddles. More to come.

Emmie Rose is staying with Sandy in Richmond, VA.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
