Pinky is available for adoption.

She is 5 years old and weighs 10 lbs.

Her adoption fee is $600.00

We have had Pinky for three weeks and she is really doing well.  She is definitely becoming more socialized meeting different people and dogs everyday.  It is getting much warmer out and because she has lost a lot of her hair our afternoon walks have become shorter but more frequent.  She is doing better with her barking at cars, birds, planes and people and dogs that are on the opposite side of the street, but it is still a work in progress.  I believe that Pinky would do very well with some professional training and we are looking for someone that will commit to this.  She is a little love bug, loves to sit on your lap, be petted and gives lots of kisses.  Her favorite room in the home remains the sunroom.  This morning we watched the Rocky J Squirrel show with 5 of Rockys favorite friends.  Pinky loved all the action as they ran from tree to tree.  So after a long walk in the morning, eating breakfast and watching the show she was out like a light.
Pinky needs someone that is home most of the day.  She does very well being in a gated kitchen when you need to go out.  I bought a dog camera to watch her and she basically sleeps in her bed and waits for us to return.  We left her one day this week for 2 hours and she did very well.  Pinky likes to run and play so a fenced in yard is a must for this little girl with someone that is always out there to watch and play with her.  She would probably do well with another small dog in the home.  Pinky is a Dachshund/Yorkie mixand we are looking for someone with Dachshund experience.  She eats twice a day and loves her dog food and finishes the whole bowl.  She loves to stretch her long body and rub her belly on the carpet.  She will let you clean her feet, ears, eyes and her bottom after her walk.  She is a very adaptable dog and really fits in with our daily routine.   Other then the sunroom Pinky loves when you play with her with her toys, going for long walks, meeting people, her treats, her bully stick, she takes all of her toys out of one her beds lays down and goes to sleep, she also loves to take her beds and move them to other areas of the room, laying in your lap or between your legs on the recliner.  She loves attention and to be petted.  Pinky is a great dog with a big personality that has a lot to offer to the right person.  She will be receiving her dental on June 4th and then will be ready for adoption.  I have only had three inquiries about Pinky and they have been about her cost and her health.  If you can give this little girl the home she needs and are a responsible and loving dog owner then please apply, she is a little character with a lot of love to give.

Pinky is staying with Cathy and Ruth in Southampton, NJ.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
