Colbie is available for adoption. Colbie is available for adoption. He is 1 year and 4 months old and weighs 6.9 lbs. His adoption fee is $800.00 Colbie is an enthusiastic, energetic charmer. He loves playing with our 10 lb Maltese mix, Bella, and he plays hard! Colbie is healthy, a good eater, enjoys his food, loves riding in cars, and really loves taking walks. We take at least 3 walks a day, usually more. We don’t know how he is with cats except that when we are on walks he is very interested in watching them. He also freezes to watch birds and wants to chase those noisy tempting squirrels. Colbie has made great strides in his potty training. When he first got here, he didn’t always make it outside. Now he does all his business outside, though he still prefers to poop on walks rather than use the backyard. And he still wears a “belly-band diaper” to help him make it through the night, but we’re hopeful that will not be needed a lot longer. Because Colbie is under two, if you adopt him, he will need to attend obedience classes. He also needs to live in a place with a fenced yard. He moves so fast and is a bit of an escape artist, so the fence will need to be higher than 4 feet and very close to the ground at its base. He tries to zip out of open doors, too! On walks Colbie thinks he is a very large dog and greets often other dogs with barking. We are working on this because it puts off some dogs (and their owners!), when what he really wants is to meet them and play with them, but it doesn’t sound that way! It bears repeating that Colbie full of energy. He stays up late and gets up early. He loves humans and will thrive in an active household with another dog or dogs as playmates. He is used to having his people home most of the day. He won’t do well being left for long periods of time. So, if you work from home, he will be most pleased. Colbie is staying with Trisha in Charlottsville, VA.
