Bee Ju is available for adoption.

She is 1.5 years old and weighs 11 lbs.

Her adoption fee is $900.00.

Bee Ju was underweight when she arrived in early December. She came to us with some digestion problems (that are being treated by our vet), and she seems to have a sensitive tummy, but we’re happy to report that she now weighs a healthy 11.4 pounds.

Bee Ju has really bloomed since she came to stay with us.  She is house trained and sleeps through the night in her crate.  (The crate is her preference – she’s very protective of it!)

She is very energetic. She loves taking walks (at a brisk pace, with many pauses for vigorous sniffing). After discovering snow, she has been unfazed by the winter weather, trotting down sidewalks or on park pathways in all temperatures.  She will play chase with her toys as long as you can hold out. When she gets “the zoomies,” stay out of the way—she zips back and forth at warp speed! She has discovered that playing with our Yorkie, Colby, is also great fun.

She has made some progress on her sidewalk manners. She now knows a few neighbors and neighborhood dogs, and she is getting better at not barking at new people and dogs, though we are still having to work with her on barking control.

She is very affectionate. She loves sitting smack against your side with her head in your lap. And she will follow you around the house wondering when you are going to sit down with her!

Bee Ju is above all loving and loyal to her people.  While she gets along with her foster brother, she could be happy as a one-and-only dog because her person is the center of her life.

She wants and needs a lot of company. She will thrive with someone who can take her out often, play with her regularly, and be at home much of the time—she does get a bit worried when no one is at home. But when you get back, she celebrates by barking and running for a toy, even if you were gone a very short time.  Her perfect life might be alternatively sitting with you and going for many walks with you and playing chase with her favorite toy.

Bee Ju is staying with Tricia, John and Colby in Charlottesville, Va.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
