UPDATE ON SKITTLES!

Hi everyone! My name is Skittles. I am so happy to be in a warm loving home with lots of big fluffy beds. I have already gained a pound and a half since I am here with my foster Mom. It will be two weeks tomorrow that the nice people from Save A Yorkie Rescue came and took me into their care. My foster Mom feeds me twice a day, and she says I have to "fatten up" a bit. I also need to walk so I can build up something called "muscles". She gives me my medicine for my skin every day and she says only two more days and I am all done with it. My hair is all shiny again, and it's growing back where I lost it. I am a really good boy. I am house broken and tell my foster mom when I have to go outside. If no one is home, foster Mom leaves wee wee pads by the back door. She is so proud of me because if no one is here I go on the wee pads, and go outside if someone is home. She says I am so smart because I know the difference. I live with 3 other dogs. One is a Yorkie named Pepper. She's kind of chubby, but she's awfully cute! I also live with two big dogs, who are really nice to me, but, I shy away from them sometimes. Hickory, the greyhound and me are getting to be buddies. Foster Mom says I can't go to another home with big dogs because I am a bit scared of them. I do need a home with other little dogs because I like having a playmate. I don't chew the furniture, or anything, and I eat all of my breakfast and dinner. My foster Mom even lets me sleep with her. I love her so much that I wake her up in the morning with lots of kisses. Everyone knows Yorkies kiss the BEST! I walk nice on a leash and I even lets my foster mom dress me in a coat so I do not get cold. Auntie Rita made me two beautiful coats! I hope someone will love me as much as my foster mom does. Won't you come to see me at the Fundraiser, on November 11th? I would love to see you and I am even in the Fashion Show!! Wait until you see all the work that they are doing for it and the GREAT prizes you can win!

Come see him at our fundraiser!

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
