......that's Dutch.

He NEVER tires.  He jumps on his brother Yorkie, Rocky all  day and all night.  Rocky will play and tolerate him just so much, then lets Dutch know he's had enough...but that doesn't stop this little puppy.  The foster mom's grandaughters and their friends are always over, so fortunatley, Dutch has a house full of teenage girls who LOVE playing with Dutch.  And THAT'S just what he needs.  He can't get enough playtime.  They walk him...and  walk him....and walk him....and he could walk forever.  What a ball of puppy energy.  However, he is not destructive.  He knows the words "Sit", "No", and "Fetch".   He slept all night at his foster mom's feet.  This morning he jumped into bed with a granddaughter and slept at her feet too.  Like any healthy puppy, he LOVES to play under the covers  He likes being held, but only for a little while, then he's ready to play again.

This little ball of energy will need a family.....stressing the word "Family".  Kids would be good, as long as they aren't too young.  If the family has a dog, then THAT dog must either be as energetic and playful as Dutch, or very gentle and tolerable of his puppiness.  He needs an active family.   He is too much energy for just one person.  An older person could never tolerate him.

He seems to be healthy.  No issues at all so far.  No throwing up or anything. He's eating and drinking and no issues with bowel movements.  Energy, energy, energy.  He is quite a character and as cute and funny as can be.  The foster family is having a ball with him.

A cute little guy. Just 11 months old and about 10 pounds.  He is a sweetie who loves everyone.

He is vacationing with Andrea and Vic near Glassboro, NJ.  What a nice boy!  But are you SURE YOU want a puppy? Can you afford to care for a puppy? Are you ready for the time and work that a puppy requires? Do your homework. Be sure. We would not want him to be in the same situation again.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
