About Oh Elizabeth - I'm Sure Missing You

Oh Elizabeth -

I long to see your pretty face;
I long to touch your hair;
I long to feel your warm embrace
Don't know if I could ever live my life without you...
Oh Elizabeth, I'm sure missing you

I remember when we shared a life together;
You gave me strength and love and life that felt brand new
when you're so far away I have to say I'm feeling blue..
Oh, Elizabeth, I'm sure missing you.

Oh, Elizabeth i'm sure missing you...

If you haven't heard that old song by the Statler Brothers, please Google it up and listen. We have Elizabeth with us. It's been a long hard road for this pretty face.  Her mom had to give her up when she could no longer care for her.  Elizabeth went to one home after another. The families, one after the other, passed her along. Until finally, she came to us and this is where the good part starts - she will receive every ounce of love, every single thing she needs, Oh Elizabeth - we hope you understand.  Someone out there longs to touch your pretty face, to feel your hair and to feel your warm embrace.

Elizabeth is the sweetest most loveable dog.

She gets along great with other dogs she wags her tail and rolls over so they can sniff her. It is hard to believe that she is 9  years old! She weighs about 8lbs but she should be 5lbs. She is a bit overweight so she doesn't play too much. She gets tired quickly but you can tell that will change once she loses a few pounds. She loves to go for walks and can't wait to get out the door! She will bark if her foster mom isn't moving quick enough. During walks she snorts like a little piggy but again that is due to her being overweight. Once she sheds some pounds she will be a walking machine. Because of this her potential adopter must be a health conscious, active individual who will not give Elizabeth table scraps and will not overfeed her. It's easy to think you are spoiling your dog by giving them little extra treats but the best treats for Elizabeth will be lots of walks and play time to get that extra weight off.

Elizabeth does fine in the car but if the car ride if it is not more than an hour.

She does not do well on stairs. She can't get up or down them and needs to be carried.

She hates crates and will howl and cry if put in a crate. If you are someone that is big on crate training this is NOT the dog for you.

She loves to take naps on the couch or on a lap. She loves back and belly rubs and is just an all around little love bug. She loves sleeping in the big bed with her foster Mom and Dad and her 3 foster brothers.

Elizabeth has bladder stones and is having surgery 3/3 to have them removed. Once they are removed and analyzed she may need to be on a special diet but the vet indicated it isn't much more costly than regular food.

Elizabeth is new in rescue and is vacationing with Carol in Burlington, NJ    Don't miss her!

or you will be singing - "Oh Elizabeth, you're so far away and I'm feeling blue."

YOUR generosity is appreciated!

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.

Be aware that you will be asked to drive to meet and pick up your dog.
