A Roxanne Hi! IâÂÂm Roxanne, but my friends and family call me Roxie. I grew up in a very loving home where I was an only pup. Sadly, my human mom became ill and now lives in a place where IâÂÂm not able to go with her. I was then taken in by a family friend (letâÂÂs call her âÂÂAuntieâÂÂ), who showed me lots of love. Auntie also has a big dog, though, and he never quite understood that I am supposed to be the top dog. After trying really hard to make it work, Auntie decided it would be best for me to find a home where I could, as the saying goes, rule the roost. So Auntie reached out to the kind people at Save a Yorkie Rescue, and IâÂÂm now living with my new family near Harrisburg, PA. They tell me they had a Yorkie for ten wonderful years before he passed away in 2018, and IâÂÂm the first Yorkie theyâÂÂve welcomed into their home since. I feel very honored! So honored, in fact, that I allow them to give me belly rubs and cuddlesâÂÂwhich I love, of course. My new momma is working hard to help me polish my manners. WeâÂÂre practicing leash skills (I have places to go and people to see!), learning that I shouldnâÂÂt eat everything I find on the floor (I donâÂÂt eat my human big brothersâ socks, but they are fun to rip apart!), and reviewing commands like sit, stay, and come. I know them allâÂÂI just sometimes forget if Momma doesnâÂÂt have a treat in her hand. IâÂÂm loving all of the attention my new family gives me, and they seem to be loving all the attention I give them right back. I want to thank Save a Yorkie Rescue for everything they did to help me find my forever home. Momma says SAYR is full of caring people who work incredibly hard to find the best parents for Yorkies, and I think they did a wonderful job helping me find my family. Congratulations Roxie!!!
A Cienna Cienna came to us as a rambunctious puppy. She remains so. But we love her too much to let her go. She has transformed our two resident SAY rescues from a bonded pair into a solid pack. Luca and Vittoria never let it "all out" like they do with Cienna. Play time is âall the timeâ. A game of chase is an intense runaway train from room to room. A frolic in the yard is a zoomie session. To fetch a thrown toy is an all out marathon to get there first. There is no way these three can be separated. So, we admit failure. After six other fosters, this one created too much of a bond with the whole household to even think about adopting her out. Yes, we know there is a family out there who will love her just as muchâ¦but what will Vittoria and Luca do without her?... and likewise, what will Cienna do without them? No way. Welcome home Cienna. Congratulations Cienna!!!
A Hermione After making her way from West Virginia to Pennsylvania, Hermione spent 2 months with the Kissinger's and underwent an extensive surgery on both ears while in foster care. Thankfully SAYR stepped up to get her this much needed surgery that went neglected far too long in her previous life. Although she will not regain any hearing, she is still the happiest girl with the biggest heart. We are thrilled to report that Hermione was adopted on Yorkie Day and is staying within the Save A Yorkie Rescue family! Our wonderful volunteer, Robin Kleppenger adopted Hermione, who now goes by the much improved name of Winnie. She is fitting right in with the Kleppenger family and getting along great with her new brother, Harlie. We have been staying in close contact and are receiving daily pictures and videos of Winnie in her new home. Although she is dearly missed, we couldn't be happier to watch her thrive in her forever home. Congrats Winnie, you deserve it!!!
A Daizie Our little Daizie has found her forever family with Gary and Kris. Daizie had bonded with us and had picked her person so we were not sure how well she would do. When Kris and Gary arrived Daizie was happy to meet them and went right into KrisâÂÂs arms. After a while we could see Daizie relax and even give out kisses. When the paperwork was done and the time for final goodbyes was here, Daizie went into the car with Gary and was relaxed and ready for her new adventures. A few hours later we received a picture of little Daizie playing on her fluffy bed with a bully stick. She looked very content! We are so proud of this little spitfire and are grateful for her new loving home! Congratulations Daizie!!!
A Lena October 6th â the day of the Harvest Moon â my little Lena was adopted. Always bittersweet. Cheryl and her dad drove three hours to meet Lena. When I opened the door, Lena and my two other Yorkies greeted them with a chorus of barking. Lena, who can be very territorial and is often frightened by men, wasted no time making her feelings knownâÂÂshe went straight for CherylâÂÂs dadâÂÂs shoes, trying to give them a good nip. Not exactly the perfect first impression! We all sat down on opposite couches, talking as Lena continued barking until, finally, she curled up on my lapâÂÂstill cautious, but calmer. Cheryl gently approached, giving Lena time to feel safe. Slowly, Lena allowed herself to be held, and we managed to capture our first photo together. When it came time to say goodbye, I didnâÂÂt walk them to the car. ThatâÂÂs always the hardest moment for meâÂÂwatching them drive away. I kissed Lena and whispered, âÂÂI love you.â Then I went to my window and watched as she was carefully placed in the car, my heart in my throat, worrying she might think she was being taken away from everything she knew. But just a few hours later, Cheryl called. âÂÂShe was quiet the whole way home,â she said. âÂÂNow sheâÂÂs exploring the house!â Whew. My heart began to relax. The next day brought even more reassuranceâÂÂLena had slept through the night, enjoyed her breakfast, went for a walk, and was now sitting happily on CherylâÂÂs lap while she worked. All my fears melted away in that moment. Lena didnâÂÂt see it as being takenâÂÂshe knew she was on her way home. A forever home. Forever safe. Forever loved. Congratulations Lena!!!
