Little Rascal

Saturday morning Little Rascal had a meet and greet with the Watkins'. The meeting began with some play time and discussion about his personality which he was showing off nicely. He was super interested in our guests. He lovingly went to them for belly rubs and brought back toys when tossed. After discussing Little Rascal and dogs in general I let my pack and Duchess join in the fun. All were having a grand time when I popped the question, "So, do you think you are ready to adopt Little Rascal?" Both Mr. and Mrs. Watkins answered in unison with a resounding YES! We quickly got down to paperwork and payment. We chatted a little more as we went over all the items in their "to go" bag. As Little Rascal is prone to be he was ready for a change of scenery. He needed to get outdoors and smell the fresh air. He was ready for his next big adventure. We all walked outside for a quick photo op. Then he showed them around the curb a bit looking for a good place to potty before the car ride and was buckled into his new seat. As I shook hands with the Watkins he poked his little head out of the back car seat as if to say, "bye foster mom and dad. Thanks for all you have done to get me where I am going...to my NEW HOME!" Little Rascal has found the perfect home to to grow and learn. They will be visiting the vet soon for a well check up and enrolling in training classes as soon as he is settled. Knowing Little Rascal, he is already bossing them around and picking out his favorite spot to sit with foster mom and have coffee and scoping out a new walking route. Congratulations Little Rascal!!!

Zowey

Zowey was my first foster and I didn’t know what to expect. I certainly didn’t think that I would fall in love so fast. She is older and well behaved. She wasn’t supposed to get along with other dogs and I was concerned about my dog Trey . They slowly got to adjust to each other and now are best of friends. Zowey was a little timid at first but she quickly decided that she liked living in the country with me and Trey. She stole my heart right away and I am so happy that I adopted her. Congratulations Zowey!!!

Rilie

Rilie has found her forever home. Thanks to Dakota for giving her a loving home and lots of belly rubs. She had a visit to the pet store and picked out a squeaky unicorn and dog chew. She went to a doggy birthday party and met 5 dogs and had a fun time. Rilie is getting to know Washington, DC and Dakotas house - she knows which direction to go from the dog park and on her walks (a work in progress). She loves to get Dakotas attention to be picked up for attention with her little bark. Congratulations Rilie!!!

Hot Coco

They say timing is everything and that was certainly the case in finding a forever home for Hot Coco (now Sultan). He had over 100 inquiries but wasn't 100% ready for adoption until just recently. And it wasn't until just recently that we came across the ideal family for him—Alexis, Mike, and Starbuck. Knowing Sultan's fear of meeting new people and dogs, we did initial introductions outside on neutral ground. There was a huge sigh of relief as the pups gave each other a friendly sniff, and once inside, Sultan welcomed everyone into his kingdom. He and Starbuck were soon playing on the couch and living room floor while we chatted with Alexis and Mike. Sultan responded well to his new parents walking him when we all went back outside, and at that point it was clear he was ready to leave the nest for his forever home. He was a little clingy towards us as we went over his paperwork (it's like he knew something was happening!) But we put on our brave faces, gave him many hugs and said goodbye—for now. We hope to meet up at a SAY event or set up a playdate in the future! This was our first "success" after "failing" with our first foster, Willy. We're so glad we had the chance to help Sultan with both his socialization and medical issues. He has grown so much over the past 3 months and we know he will continue to thrive with Alexis, Mike, and Starbuck. Congratulations Hot Coco!!!

Arlo

Arlo was so excited! He kept running back and forth between the Drescher’s. When our dogs wanted some attention from them , Arlo pushed himself in front of the pack, as if saying” they are mine” . I will be follow up up them tomorrow and we are planning a play date with Arlo at the end of next week at the Drescher’s home.When it was time to go, we walked him outside and he jumped into their back seat and into his doggie car seat! Congratulations Arlo!!!
