Ginger Snap is available for adoption.

She is 3 years old and weighs 13 lbs. (she needs to loose weight)

Her adoption fee is $700.00.

Ginger is a great dog! She is a 3-year-old female and wants to be the woman of the house!

She loves taking walks and walks well on a leash.  Generally, she stays on my left side and keeps pace with me until something catches her eye that she needs to investigate.  She is getting used to doing her business during our walks!  Inside, she has made tremendous progress using pee-pads.

Ginger loves car rides. Whenever I go out to the garage, Ginger is hot on my heels.  If I happen to open the car door to put something in or take something out, Ginger darts in front of me, jumps in the car and settles into the front passenger seat with a tail wag and a grin.  (No worries, she rides in a car seat in the back but I humor her during these episodes.)  When I finish whatever I was doing, I simply call her and she jumps out and happily trots behind me for our next adventure.

On the flip side, Ginger hates snow.  We work up last Friday to about 2 inches of snow on the ground which was 2 inches too much for Ginger.  She refused to go outside but I managed to convince her that we shoveled all the snow away so she wouldn’t have to walk in it.  Unfortunately, once we were on our way, we learned that not all our neighbors shoveled, and Ginger blatantly refused to walk on any surface that was snow covered.  Needless to say, our walk was more of a carry!

Ginger is a love bug.  She loves to snuggle and cover you with kisses while sitting on your lap.  She likes to play too and walks around the house with a ball in her mouth.  She appears to always be at the ready for a game of catch but has made it clear that she prefers to play alone as she will not let go of the ball for a game of catch!  Once Ginger finds her person, she will follow them anywhere.  She is always by my side, at my feet or in my lap.  Often, she falls sound asleep on my lap and I have to wake her to get her to bed.  She sleeps through the night but once we are awake, she demands to be fed.

She is such a good little girl!

Ginger Snap is staying with Maryann in Ambler, PA.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.

 ADOPTION AREA

Save A Yorkie Rescue prefers to adopt only in the PA, NJ, western NY, DE, MD, VA, some CT area's. If you are in the NYC area or near Long Island, there is a Yorkie Rescue closer to you.
