My name is Quimby.

I don't know why President Obama didn't pick me cause I was right there in DC in a shelter.I just got a new hair do and I am lookin GOOD! My new foster parents are big STEELER fans so they put me in Steeler colors.

I like to be the boss around here but there are these little animals, I've been told they are called cats and they set me straight right away-THEY ARE IN CHARGE IN THIS HOUSE! I back off when they walk by and everything is fine we all get along great.

I have a big foster brother that I like to tease by chasing around the dining room table it is fun! I'm not afraid of anything except maybe the hair brush but eveything is good now since I got a new haircut. I love to sit on the couch and curl up beside my foster brother and watch tv with my foster parents. I'm working on my potty skills and have it almost down pat now. I love to sleep in my crate at night in the room with my foster brother and parents. I don't mind too much if you have to go out for a while and leave me but I am so excited when you come home again. I promise I will love you forever and ever and I give great doggie kisses too. I only got to walk a on leash for a little bit but I walk really well on the leash and don't pull at all. It's been too-o-o cold to take a walk!!

Quimby- Same old story - Quimby's guardian moved to a home where his two dogs could not come too. How could he?? How could he be so uncaring?

So Quimby, is with us. He was not neutered (another reflection of the stupidity of the former owner) but Quimby was groomed and will be neutered this week. What a relief on all fronts!

Put in your application NOW. You may be the lucky person to show Quimby that not all people are stupid, uncaring and lousy owners.

Again - once you put your application in, we will start to process it right away but it takes hours of work for our volunteers. Please -please be sure that you really want to adopt this Yorkie and that you will stick with us while we do our work.

We are looking for people who are as commited to adopting the dogs as we are. Bless you for caring.

KEEP THESE FACTS IN MIND:
1. Yorkies do not usually get along well with small children and can be injured by small children, even ones who love them. Be aware of this and keep them apart. 2. Yorkies can be very difficult (nearly impossible) to housebreak. If you are gone for more than 3 hours at a time, the dog will have to have access to wee wee pads, or need someone to stop in to let him out to potty.
3. We almost NEVER get a puppy (less than one year old) in Yorkie Rescue. If only a puppy will do, check the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website for a recommended breeder - never buy over the Internet, or from a newspaper ad or a petstore. The heartache you save will be immeasureable.
4. There is no such thing as a "teacup" Yorkie, so don't be misled by such a description. LEARN about the breed BEFORE you decide to adopt.
5. You will need to make arrangements to drive and meet the dog at the foster home which can be in New Jersey, western PA, Maryland,  etc. The dog's biography lists where the dog is fostering. We want you to meet the dog with your family and your dog, if you have one. This is a requirement for adoption.

WHAT IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
Adoption donations generally vary from dog to dog, it depends on the health, the age and the size of the dog.

Young Yorkies will have a higher adoption donation since they are the most highly sought after and they help to cover the costs of the older dogs who have a harder time finding a loving home. It is sad but true that people overwhelming demand very young dogs when they would be infinitely happier with a mellow adult.
