Indy

Wednesday September 18th was a very happy day for me. It was the day I was officially Indy's new mommy! As it was known, Indy came into rescue with an issue involving her left leg. In the beginning we were not sure how severe her issue was until she was seen by a very respectable orthopedic surgeon and it became clear that Indy had a very complex issue that required surgery. Surgery was scheduled at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Collegeville PA. When I returned to pick her up after surgery the doctor advised that it was a very intense surgery and it would take some time to see if it was successful. You can only imagine how difficult it can be to keep a one year old quite and confined. At the same time I was also fostering Rudy and older boy Yorkie. After many follow up appointments with fingers crossed and anxiety high the doctor shared that Indys leg was healing but again 4 more weeks of confinement. I realized early on that I was getting very attached to this little girl who needed so much love and understanding as she continued to heal from an injury that affected her from walking normally and pain free. I made the decision that I had spent and given so much love and time to her and hopeful for a successful recovery that I informed the team that I wanted her to become MY little girl. We are still in healing mode for another 4 weeks along with therapy hoping that the will eventually put that leg down all of the time but if not I accept whatever she can do with that leg because I love her so much and will take her with a limp! So many people inquired about Indy mostly I'm sure because of her beauty and not really understanding the severity of her injury but I knew and in the end it makes no difference. She is my little girl and I love her so much!
